Caravaggio, The Young Bacchus

Caravaggio, known best for his outrageous behavior and amazing work was an extremely prolific figure in the late 16th century. His masterful control of light and shadow left an imprint on achieving realism. He had a grasp of the human figure and went to lengths for studying it, even being known for pulling a corpse out of a river to study its anatomy. The ultimate bad boy of the Baroque.
